Bronzing 101 Makeup Tutorial

Hey guys!

Today we'll be talking about how to achieve that bronzed beach look we oh so love -at least, I know I do. This look can be worn by itself or with your normal/heavy makeup routine. It all depends on you! Either way, you'll definitely have that nice bronze tan glow to it.

Now let's get started on your face!

Today's post will be on cheekbones, cheeks, forehead and jawline.

How the final outcome will look like:

Things you need:

1. A contouring brush
2. Bronzer

Optional:

  • Highlighter
  • Orange blusher (a color that matches closely to your bronzer)
  • Contouring powder

STEPS:

1. Prep your face and do your regular makeup routine. You also can skip your regular makeup routine and dive in straight into this -like I said, you can wear this on it's own.

I already did my eyes so the rest of my face is bare (as in no bronzer highlighter blusher magic going on)

2. Take your contouring brush and swirl once over your bronzer. After that, apply the bronzer at the hollows of your cheek. If you don't know where is it, suck in your lips (your lips should look like fish lips) and you can see a shadow over your cheeks; that's where you want to apply the bronzer at. If you still can't see it, use your fingers to press over your cheeks. You can feel a dip on your skin. That's where you want to contour over.

( I'm not using a contouring brush. I prefer this brush I got from Japan because it gives more accuracy. You basically should use any dense brush that gives the most accuracy so you don't over apply your bronzer)

3. Now, apply the most bronzer at the area closest to your ear. Move in a straight line from your ears down to slightly where your eye area is at. You don't want to drag the line too far down -it'll look odd.

I used contouring powder instead of a bronzer. It has less shimmer in it.

4. Move in circular motions around the cheekbone and hollow of your cheeks, make sure there is plently of product there. This will create a popping effect on your cheekbones as well as give you a nice bronze glow.

5. Make sure to blend away. Don't leave that harsh line lingering on your face.

6. Now that the hard part is over, we'll move on to the forehead. Use your brush and sweep over your hairline.

7. Do the same thing under your jawline.

8. Now, you can leave it or you can pack it up again. Either you use the same bronzer again, or use a different one. I used a contouring powder the first time, and now I will be using a bronzer to go over it.

WITH OPTIONAL STEPS:

1. BLUSHER: Apply the blusher nearest to your ear and slowly blend downwards. Make sure to blend into the bronzer.

2. HIGHLIGHTER: Apply the highlighter at your cheekbones. If you applied blusher, apply it above the blusher to make sure it doesn't clash with the blusher.

And you're done!

SIDE NOTES:

For those who are doing this look with only a bronzer, if it has a lot of shimmer, please try to control the amount you're using. If there's too much shimmer in it will make your face look like a disco ball -save the shimmer for a blusher or highlighter. However, if you haven't bought a bronzer, and plan to buy one -I recommend NARS' Laguna. It has the right amount of shimmer in it to allow you to build it up on itself only.

For those doing this with a contouring powder and bronzer, the bronzer you use should also be moderate in the shimmer content. But you should only run your face once with the bronzer. I recommend Dior's Diorskin Nude Shimmer Instant Illuminating Powder in Amber. However that is a bit pricey, so Benefit's Hoola is also a good bronzer.

PRODUCTS USED:

1. Diorskin Nude Shimmer Instant Illuminating Powder in Amber

2. Emoda Shading Powder in Medium

3. Canmake brush

That's the end of this tutorial! Let me know your thoughts and what should I post x) I'd love to hear them all!

With love,
Aly
