Sultry Monolid Makeup Tutorial

Hey guys!

I recently did a makeover crossover with my friend the other day so I did her makeup and she did mine! So, today I'll be showing you how I did her makeup in a step by step tutorial for everyone! Here's how the final outcome will be like

If you like it then please keep on reading to know how to recreate this look!

STEPS TO THIS SULTRY LOOK:

1. Clean your face and put moisturiser. ( You can read on how to wash your face here and how to apply skin care here) All in all, have a bare face.

2. Apply BB cream and CC cream. You can mix both of them together before applying it on your face or put dots on your face like the picture below. CC cream dots are in white, whereas BB cream is in beige. When you apply BB cream, it's best with CC cream as it helps create a more natural finish.

3. Blend, blend and blend! Use your fingers and pat all around the face until everything is well blended. You can also use a beauty blender ( makeup sponge) and blend everything up in patting motions as well. Another option is to use a brush and buff it into the skin. I prefer using a makeup sponge as it has a more natural finish and it doesn't look overly cakey.

4. Apply concealer to hide pimples and uneven skin tone. After that, blend again. Makeup is all about blending.

5. Fill in those eyebrows! ( A tutorial on how to fill in your eyebrows or draw them if you have none will be posted soon! So stay tuned!)

6. Apply powder on whole face. This helps to lock your makeup in place so it won't go sliding around throughout the day. I used Guerlain's Meteories Compact Light Revealing Powder in Clair. (You can read my review on it here)

7. Prime your eyelids with an eyeshadow primer. The ones I used was Urban Decay's Primer Potion.

8. Use tape to tape the sides of your eyes. It should look like a wing going upwards from your face. The tape will create a more clean cut look for your eyeshadow and eyeliner.

9. Place a neutral pale shimmer eyeshadow over your eyelid. I used Sin from the Naked Palette. Use a dark shade of brown for the outer V of the eye and bring over the crease. I used Hustle from the Naked Palette. For monolid girls, you need to focus on going slightly above the crease to create an illusion of a fake crease.

This is how it should look like for step 8 and 9.

10. Apply darker shades over the dark brown line drawn earlier (picture above) and blend. Apply until you can see a nice cut crease look when you open your eyes. I used Facotry, Mugshot, and Blackheart from Naked 3. For the blending/transition color, I used Chocolat by Emoda. For monolids, it should look like you have your very own double eyelid when you open your eyes. Make sure to blend well.

11. Draw eyeliner. Draw a simple eyeliner but extend it out towards your eyebrow tail -giving the strong cat eye look. This will help give your eyes the effect looking more awake. Draw a moderately thick line but not too thick until you cover your eyeshadow. For monolids, draw until you can see the eyeliner when you open your eyes.

12. Take out the tape.

13. Curl your lashes and apply mascara. ( A tutorial on how to apply and keep lashes curled will be posted soon)

14. Put on fake eyelashes. ( A tutorial on how to apply them will be posted soon too)

How step 10-14 should look like

15. Apply bronzer at the hollows of your cheekbones, around your forehead, and your jawline. The bronzers I'd used was Emoda's Control Shade Powder and Dior's Diorskin Nude Shimmer Instant Illuminating Powder in Amber.Contour along the sides of the nose for a slimmer nose. ( Once again, another tutorial on how to bronze/contour will be uploaded soon)

16. Apply highlighter on the highpoints of your face -the cheekbones, chin, forehead, and the top part of your nose.

This is how step 15 and 16 should look like. You can see the stubble bronze glow at the hollows of the cheek and under her jawline obviously. The highlighter on her cheekbone accentuates her cheekbones as well. All of this creates a more defined look.

17. Apply a nude rosey lip color. With the dramatic eyes we're going for, we don't want an overkill with a strong lip color.

And you're done! This is how you should look like now!

You can see there's an illusion of a cut crease on the her face! This is how it should look for all monolid girls out there. For those double eyelid girls, you should get a similar look as well.

  1. Hey ashley, i didnt know you were a make-up fanatic. It would be really cool if you did a tutorial on how to draw brows for girls who alreasy have somewhat dark brows. Like, to make it longer and more flamboyant to pull off a Cara Delevinge / Lilly Collins (: X
